We need to expand our SAN infrastructure to another floor on same building and currently have one Fabric with two 3800 switches and 2 ISLs. In order to add another 3800 to the new floor what's the best way to connect the ISLs? Should it be a resiliant connection? so the new switch have 1 ISL to switch one and 1 ISL to switch 2? Our SAN is used only for backups. There is no storage or LUNs defined in there.

Hi, yes you can create a new ISL from Third Switch one or more Port to First Switch and one or more Port to the Second Switch. After connection all zoning, alias and cfg config will be replicated in the Third switch.

Thank you for your reply. What ports is best to use? Is it better to use all four ports in Quad1 from new switch to connect to port 2 and 3 on same quad where 2 ISL are currently between swith 1 and 2 on ports 0 and 1? or should be going to another to another QUAD? Use different QUADS? What's the best way? Thanks.
