What is the difference between chassisname and switchname%3F

Hi Forum Members,

it's quite basic, but what is the difference between the chassisname and the switchname? What is the practical way to use them as unique name? Maybe on a VF? Many thangks.

Hello,

Yes you may use it with VF, where you have different names for chassis and names for single logical switches.

Chassis name should be global as you may list it with command "fabricshow -chassis"

So for example chassisname you will have type of switch and for switchname/es you will then have hostname/es of switch/es.
