Troubleshooting failed 4900 switch

Hello,

I am trying to diagnose a 4900 switch that failed.  Every port is "orange" and it won't boot.  When I power it on, it goes into a loop with the following messages:

"Read Board ID of 0x88 from addr 0x23"

"This OSLoader has an invalid magic #"

I can hit escape and go to the command shell, but when I try to boot (using either value for OSLoader) it fails.  My first questions are:

What exacting is the OSLoader and why are there two values?  Is it flash memory? (Both values in printenv start out with "ATA() 0x").

How does that compare to the rootpartition values, which are hda1 and hda2?

Thanks,

Donna
