Threshold for BB credit zero Rx / Tx

Hi guys,

I would like to know if there is any overview regarding the number of BB credit zero Rx & Tx per port for:

  • Brocade 200
  • Brocade 300
  • Brocade 6510

The threshold on our monitoring tool is:

'BB credit zero - Tx' > 1 000 000 or 'BB credit zero - Rx' > 1 000 000

I think that are not the right values. Especially, we have three different powerful switches. I’m sure that our 6510 is capable to handle way more than our old Brocade 200.

How or where I can get the information regarding a reasonable threshold value?

Thanks in advance

Re: Threshold for BB credit zero Rx / Tx

Hi, rxexgx,

Main question - for what period of time software check thresholds BB Credit zero?

SAN switch checks every 2.5 microsec BB Credit zero event. And if those exceptions would 400K in 1 sec, that through this port don't go traffic in that second.

But if monitoring software (for example Brocade Network Advisor) check BB Credits exceptions for 5 min periods, that 1M BB Credit zero events .this is only 1/12 part of all time traffic.

..1/120 or less 1% time port wait free buffer.
