SFP longwave/shortwave identification

Hi All,

My Brocade switch model is M5424. In that one port showing CRC errors. I decided to change the SFP module. How do i find existing SFP whether long wave or shortwave? What is the difference between these two parameters? Please suggest me.

Re: SFP longwave/shortwave identification

It i'll most likely be SW (Shortwave).

But to be sure you can do a sfpshow on the CLI and get a output similar as

Port 28: id (sw) Vendor: JDS UNIPHASE Serial No: F74030801AC6 Speed: 100,200,400_MB/s
Port 29: id (sw) Vendor: JDS UNIPHASE Serial No: F74030801B29 Speed: 100,200,400_MB/s
Port 30: id (lw) Vendor: JDS UNIPHASE Serial No: F64797960780 Speed: 100,200,400_MB/s
Port 31: id (lw) Vendor: JDS UNIPHASE Serial No: F6509796099E Speed: 100,200,400_MB/s

Between the () is SW for shortwave and lw for longwave.

sfpshow {portnumber} will give some more details. regarding the SFP (if supported by the sfp)
