We have a Brocade 300 as the principal switch and 200E as sub-ordinate, currently we are expanding the fabric and have a new 6505 that needs to be connected to Brocade 300 thru ISL trunking( we have the trunking license). FOS version of the switches are as below,
Brocade 300 - v6.2.0c
Brocade 200E - v6.0.0c
Brocade 6505 - v7.0.1
From FOS 7.0.1 release notes I understand that v6.2.0c is compatible with v7.0.1 , although the version on 200E(v6.0.0c) is not compatible with FOS 7.0.1
My question is even though I am trunking 6505 to 300 whose FOS are compatible, will I have any problem that 200E with an incompatible FOS co-exists in the same fabric?
Please let me know if more information is required.
Any pointers would be very helpful.

If Release notes show that everything is supported, you shouldn't experience any issue. In order to prevent any unexpected behaviour, I recommend you to upgrade Brocade 200E and 300 to their latest releases, specially Brocade 200E that can be upgraded up to 6.2.2x

I have one more question, I missed out other part of my existing configuration in my earlier question, 200E is ISL trunked to Brocade 3800 with v3.2.1c and I guess that is the last version for 3800. And 200E (FOS v6.0.0.c) is in turn ISL trunked to Brocade 300(FOS v6.2.0c), Now, with the new Brocade 6505(FOS v.7.0.1) that I have , I need to establish ISL to Brocade 300.
But, the FOS 7.0.1 release notes states that "no Direct E-port connections are supported for Brocade 3800 Switch", but I a don't want any E-port connections to 3800, So as you had suggested, if I upgrade 200E to a compatible version with FOS 7.0.1 and then establish an ISL between B300 and B6505 , will there be any FOS compatibility issues because 3800 is an old switch with an older FOS that exists in the same fabric?
This is all in a production environment and I am trying to find out as much info as possible for planning an upgrade and adding the new switch to the existing fabric.
Thanks once again.

I think that no one can answer your question... because Brocade 3800 is a quite old switch whilst 6505 it's brand new and there may not be any documentation about it...
I do recommend you to get rid of that 3800, but since that options does not seem to be feasible, I would connect the 6505 to the 300 and it there is any incompatibility the new switch wouldn't join the fabric.
