Fabric OS Upgrade from v6.3.0c to v7.4.x on Brocade 300 FC Switch

I am looking to confirm the recomended path to upgrade a Brocade 300 FC switch (HP badged SAN Switch 8/8 24 Port)

The path I **think** I need to follow is - FOS v6.3.0c > FOS v6.3.2d > FOS v6.4.3d > FOS v7.0.2c > FOS v7.1.1a/b/c > FOS 7.2.1g > FOS 7.3.1d/e > FOS 7.4.1e

I am assuming all steps will be disruptive (reboot) to FC traffic.

Any clarity/confirmation/suggestions/advice regarding this will be appreciated.

Cheers

Hi, your path does work but you can skip the 6.3.2.d part. Not needed.

Re: Fabric OS Upgrade from v6.3.0c to v7.4.x on Brocade 300 FC Switch

Hi,

as Thomas mention - you can skip the 6.3.2d since you one 6.3.x, e.g:

FOS v6.3.0c > FOS v6.4.3d > FOS v7.0.2c > FOS v7.1.1a/b/c > FOS 7.2.1g > FOS 7.3.1d/e > FOS 7.4.1e

since you doing single step upgrades - 6.4 to 7.0 - none of these upgrade would be disruptive to FC traffic

on the switch. Anybody asking queries from the name server (NS) during reboot phase (hareboot) will

notice of course since it take at least 2min to get up and running...
