Re: FCIP tunnnel is not coming up on 7840

Hi

Currently HDS SME is involved in FCIP setup . He has  reconfigued the switch into 20VE mode  and use VE ports 26 and 30. However the tunnel  is not come up yet. More trubleshooting is planned tomorrow , I will update on the post

Re: FCIP tunnnel is not coming up on 7840

Hi!

A bit theory...

In brocade VE ports not bound to GE ports :)

All GE ports by default share. It's not metter which VE port we use. there is only one limitation associated with DP and group of VE ports.

I thought about 10VE and 20VE mode, but it have affect mostly on quantity of tunnels and circuits in them and maximum switch bandwidth connected by FCIP technology.

There is no resolution  even after reboot  of the   swithces . HDS is  planning to upgrade the Firmware to 7.4 from 7.3.0a

Before the upgrade, if you can try to configure switch from my past reply.

In two speed modes for GE port. In 10Gbps and 1Gbps.

I haven't stand with this type of switches to try it myself.

Re: FCIP tunnnel is not coming up on 7840

Hi

Before Upgrading we captured the Network trace and received the input

we don't see a three-way handshake happening here and reset in the connectivity.

We captured packets for IPs 10.45.0.14 and 10.47.0.14 ( Time frame : 2016-08-16 01:43 to 2016-08-17 02:43 ) and upon analyzing, we could see that 10.47.0.14 is acting as source(for port 3225 and 3226).

10.47.0.14 being the source is sending a SYN packet to 10.45.0.14 and 10.45.0.14 replies with a SYN-ACK packet. But after that 10.47.0.14 is not replying with a ACK packet and hence retransmission of data is occuring.

To conclude we don't see a three-way handshake happening here and reset in the connectivity

Is there any parameter to be configured at Broacde level ?

[ Edited ]

Is your problem still relevant?

I don't know any additional parameters for IP.

But I am one suspected.

Can you list me licenseshow output?

I find it in your supportsave.

I read about one interesting feature called "WAN Rate Upgrade 1".

Try set you ports to 1Gbps speed rate and try to set up connection between switches.

Hi

Please find  the below output .   However Advanced Extension license should support 10g as per the Broacde document

Re: FCIP tunnnel is not coming up on 7840

I tried to enable the port to 1G and AUTO option on ge6 interface , port went to offline and did come on line.

So I reverted to 10G and the port came online.

Re: FCIP tunnnel is not coming up on 7840

WAN Rate Upgrade 1 License — The WAN Rate Upgrade 1 license provides the additional WAN throughput up
to 10 Gbps on Brocade 7840. The base configuration of Brocade 7840 without the WAN Rate Upgrade 1
license provides WAN throughput up to 5 Gbps.

10GbE FCIP/10G Fibre Channel License is not applicable on 7840

We tied to create the tunnel with  option -b 50000 -B 100000   and the ge6 interface is set to 10G , however the tunnel in In-Prog state.   Even are not reaching 5Gbps WAN  spped
