Enabling port for EX but VF is enabled

I have two switches in my fabric.

Both switches have the default VF configuration.

I now need to enable a port for EX to connect to another fabric.

Looking at documentation it seems I have two options:

1. Create a base switch and put the a port in there so I can configure it as an EX port

2. Disable vf and select any port(s) for EX

As I have active devices on this fabric are there any comments or pros and cons for the above.

I have a second fabric with two additional switches so my devices are split over the two fabrics.

I have the IR license installed on one switch.

The requirement for an EX port is temporary whilst we do some migration.

Re: Enabling port for EX but VF is enabled

Hi there,

I'd rather use the first option since it is a fully online operative: you can create a new VF with the Base role non-disruptively; configure the FCR environment without any impact and once you've finished, you can undo everything and leave it as it is now.
