My costumer has two HP Storageworks 4/12 Sanswitch (Silkworm HP2). I upgraded these from Ver 5.05 --> 6.22a. Switch #1 upgraded good, switch#2 got into a hang-state then wiped the zone db. After upgrade was sucssessful I configured all zones.
Now I see in the eventlogg that the switch has warned: Critical, S0,C0: HW ASIC Chip error type = 0x21, 11 times from 20102019 14:02 to 20100222 22:10.
After the last Critical event there have not been any more critical error events, only my zoning work.
The switch health is healthy at the time.
Can some one put a light in my tunnel and maybe an explanation of what may have done this?
The other San switch has no critical events at all.

--->>> What is the nature of this message?
This error stay at indicate a defective Hardware.
As mentioned in my preview post,
Whenever this error occurs,
1) restart the system at the next maintenance window.
2) If the problem persists, replace the blade.
In this case you need to replace the switch.

thanks for your answer!
However, I'm looking for more detailed explanation then one I could find in Message Reference guide. What part of switch is defective, and was there something that I could do to prevent this?

nothing, because this is no a FRU Part's, and the Chip is solded on Board.
You need to replace the Switch.
