Can I use a Brocade 16Gbps SFP in a Brocade 5300 switch?

I have a need to take an SFP/transceiver from a 6520 switch and use it in a 5300 switch.  The 6520 SFP is part 57-0000088-01 and I can't find anything that states it is qualified in a 5300 (but no surprise there as the 5300 is on the way out).  I have a server with an 8,16,32 Gbps HBA that I need to connect to my 5300 and my current 5300 SFP's are 4Gbps so it doesn't work.  New switch purchases were cut from the quote last year (budget issues).  I am told they will be purchased this year, however, I do not want to be in an unsupported configuration even temporarily.  Thanks in advance!

No, you cannot use 16G SFP in 8G switch!

Thank you Alexey.  As the sfp supports speeds of 4,8,16Gbps I wasn't sure.  My customer may want some sort of documentation stating such.  Is there anything I can point them to?  Thanks again!

Re: Can I use a Brocade 16Gbps SFP in a Brocade 5300 switch?

Brocade ASIC usually supports its native generation SFPs and previous generation SFPs.
5300 is 8G (or Gen 4) switch so it supports 8/4/2 Gb SFPs and 4/2/1 Gb SFPs.
The last compatibility matrix only lists Gen 5 (16G) and Gen 6 platforms so there's no 5300. I hope there is an older matrix available somewhere for you...
