Brocade DCX 8510-8 SW1 and Brocade 8510-4 SW2 Zoning conflict

Good day.

May i seek for your advice regarding encountered zoning conflict between 2 SAN director switches DCX 8510-8 and DCX 8510 -4

We already done manually balancing the Effective zoning configuration, save and enable the config, and  Enabling and disabling ISL ports 0 and 1.I noticed that the defined configuration is still not sorted out equally as per checking on cfgshow. Is there any workaround that does not require downtime of either swtich. Thanks in advance.

Are you actually seeing a zone conflict message?

Please take note that we already manually removed the conflicts on the effective zoning configuration. We checked and compared using notepad++ and saw the Defined configuration is still not sorted equally for SW1 and SW3 after enablin and disabling ISL ports.

Re: Brocade DCX 8510-8 SW1 and Brocade 8510-4 SW2 Zoning conflict

[ Edited ]

The easiest way to accomplish this is:

Disable E_Ports

On switch 3 - cfgclear - cfgsave - Verify that there is no zoning in place.

Enable E_Ports. Zoning config should move to switch 3 after the switches reconnect and merge.

This will be downtime for switch 3 in that zoning will be removed. If it's scripted out, it should take only a few minutes to accomplish.

Switch 1 will still maintain its zoning.

Note - if you want to keep the zoning on switch 3, then you'll cfgclear switch 1 instead of 3.

If you are looking at merging zoning (especially if they are different and need to be merged), you can use Network Advisor to merge the two zoning configs.
