I'm looking to connect an IBM 5022 SAN Switch (rebadged Brocade 6547 switch modules) which is in an IBM blade chassis to our main a Brocade 6510 FC switch.
Looking through the documentation, it seems that the 6547 can just put put into access gateway mode and that's the config done there so that's fairly simple.
It sounds like I need to configure a trunk area on the 6510 which also looks reasonably simple. Disable the two ports I want to use, do porttrunkarea --enable port1-port2 -index x and uplink the 6547 to these ports. The Access Gateway docs also list info about setting up DCC policies. I don't think I need to do that if I don't want security policies, do I? Is it just the port area I need to do?
I was testing the commands and, when setting up a test Port Trunk Area, it wouldn't let me use index 125 like they do in the docs. I assumed this was a bit of an arbitary figure like a Cisco ACL which I could pick myself. It said "ERROR: default area 125 not present in port group".
I ended up using index 6 which it did accept but I was wondering why it doesn't accept 125. Does the index has to be the number of one of the member ports?

One more question!
The AG documentation suggests that the bulk of the configuration when doing trunking with an AG switch happens on the upstream/edge switch. That makes sense, that is where I would be setting up the Port Trunk Area. I'm not clear on what needs to be done on the AG switch itself. Do I need to setup F-Port -> N-Port mapping still or is this automatically handled?

there are somethings that you can configure, depends on how much mircomanagement you want.
just enter ag on the ag switch and it will show you additional commands for setting up the switch
setup snmp v1 or v3
secure the switch, limit access, deny telnet, disable http, only allow https and ssh
implement ldap user management
change admin password
shows you how the mapping (f-port to n-port mapping) looks like.
ag --pgsetmodus "lb" we set that to PG_mode lb (load balance)
configure what should happen wenn ports become unavailable
ag --failoverenable pg-group
ag --failbackenable pg-group
and you might wanna setup
agautomapballance for f-port and n-port
for additional infos have a look at http://www.brocade.com/downloads/documents/html_product_manuals/AG_AG_720/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm
but i assume you know that one already
