Around the world, the number of voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) users is rapidly increasing. The end of 2011 saw more than 29 million active users, and considering how new the market is, there is still plenty of room for growth.
VoIP has wide-ranging applications across many different types of markets. There is considerable value for deployments in Government, in healthcare, and for start-ups, for example. With a still nascent market and yet-to-be widespread penetration, there may be great opportunities for service providers to add or expand VoIP services. As services like VoIP grow, the demand for better broadband speeds may increase as well. As seen in the adoption rates, many users are seeing the cost savings and dependability of VoIP, and are responding accordingly. I'm interested in seeing where this market goes in the next several years.
