VE Port not coming up

I have the following config:

lan 1 name DEFAULT-VLAN by port

vlan 2 by port

untagged ethe 1/1/1

router-interface ve 2

vlan 30 name ports-2-12 by port

tagged ethe 1/1/24

untagged ethe 1/1/3 ethe 1/1/12

router-interface ve 30

untagged ethe 1/1/13 ethe 1/1/23

in port 1/1/1, I have plugged in a ethernet calbe that connects me to my core switch. on port 1/1/8 I have connected my laptop with a 10.0.30.11 address. port 1/1/1 comeup but port 1/1/8 doesn't. Also I have a route of 0.0.0.0/0 to 10.0.0.1 and I can't ping 10.0.0.1
