VDX6740 Port Admin Down

[ Edited ]

Hello,

I configured 4 (Te 10/0/18, Te 10/0/20, Te 10/0/22, and Te 10/0/24) 10Gig ports as L2 access ports. I applied the same configuration on all of these interfaces. I plugged in 10G SFP cables into each one of these ports. Ports 10/0/18, 20, and 22 came up showing "connected" and "up" but port Te 10/0/24 went into Admin down. I manually put " no shut" on the interface but it would go back into admin shut. To isolate the issue, I moved the cable that was plugged into port Te 10/0/24 into Te 10/0/18, then into Te 10/0/20, and finally into Te 10/0/22 and the ports went up/up. So, the problem isn't with the 10G cable nor the device on the other end.

I cleared the port(Te 10/0/24) by issuing "no switchport" command an re-applied the same port config, which is on one of the ports that worked (Te 10/0/18, 20, and 22), but port Te 10/0/24 would go instantly into Admin down state.

I tried to configure other ports (Te 10/0/1- Te 10/0/8) applying the same configuration(L2 access put) and ports Te 10/0/1- Te 10/0/6 came up/up but ports Te 10/0/7 and Te 10/0/8 kept going into admin down. Again, I used the same 10G cable which is connected to a device on the other end when connecting this cable into Te 10/0/1- Te 10/0/6 these ports came up/up!

I am lost!!! Why do these ports go into adminshut if I am using the same 10G cable/ same device and plugging this cable into each one of these ports Te 10/0/1- Te 10/0/8), and only ports Te 10/0/7 and Te 10/0/8 go into admin down?!?!

What am I missing? (Is there some kind of configuration on the VDX that I am missing or need to apply?

Thanks!

Re: VDX6740 Port Admin Down

I was able to resolve this issue. It turned out the reason why these ports would go into Admin Down state is becuase they weren't licensed.
