STP over LACP - 6910

[ Edited ]

Hello all:

We have a number of 6910's in our network and we are running LACP and we are noticing a lot of STA topology change notifications in the logs.  Some of the switches have multiple trunks.

Here's a typical config:

port-channel load-balance src-dst-ip
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
ethernet cfm mep ccm-lose-shutdown wtr 1
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
interface ethernet 1/1
switchport mode trunk
switchport allowed vlan add 1,200 tagged
vlan-trunking
ethernet cfm port-enable
lacp
lacp actor admin-key 70
!
interface ethernet 1/2
description To Regen #1
no negotiation
switchport mode trunk
switchport allowed vlan add 1,200 tagged
vlan-trunking
ethernet cfm port-enable
lacp
lacp actor admin-key 169
!
interface ethernet 1/3
switchport mode trunk
switchport allowed vlan add 1,200 tagged
vlan-trunking
ethernet cfm port-enable
lacp
lacp actor admin-key 70

I'm by no means an STP guru but we are seeing some blocking on the port channel interfaces which I expect is because of sort of STP loop.

My primary question is what STP configs are appropriate for switches running LACP? I've read about specifying the STP priority and I've also read about disabling STP on the trunks all together.  We are entirely a Brocade shop and cross-vendor configs do not exist.

Any words of wisdom are appreciated.

Re: STP over LACP - 6910

Have you verified the physical cabling? Also, I believe I remember reading about a defect (bug) related to STP and LACP port-channels. You may want to open a Brocade TAC case if possible.

Re: STP over LACP - 6910

Have you tried to disable STP globally on the 6810? I have seen 6910 switches having issues to disable STP correctly and still sending BPDU's.
