Privileged EXEC for Telnet User

Hello All!

I have a Borcade FCX Switch with software version 07.2.02aT7f3. I want to create some users that can telnet to the switch and have Privileged EXEC level immediately without the need to enter the command enable. For example, I have entered the following configuration commands:

aaa authentication login default local
enable telnet authentication

username admin priv 0 create-password Pass!!!!

When I telnet to the switch with this user admin I get into User Exec. What would you recommend to change to have Privileged EXEC instead of User Exec automatically?

Thank you if you answer.

Re: Privileged EXEC for Telnet User

Hi semigr

Priv level 0 is superuser, however that said you must still enter the enable command when telnetting or SSHing to the box.

The privilege <privilege-level> parameter specifies the privilege level for the account. You can

specify one of the following:

0 – Super User level (full read-write access)

4 – Port Configuration level

5 – Read Only level

0 – Super User level (full read-write access)

4 – Port Configuration level

5 – Read Only level

0 – Super User level (full read-write access)

4 – Port Configuration level

5 – Read Only level

Re: Privileged EXEC for Telnet User

however if you are using RADIUS auth then

Entering privileged EXEC mode after a Telnet or SSH login

By default, a user enters User EXEC mode after a successful login through Telnet or SSH.

Optionally, you can configure the device so that a user enters Privileged EXEC mode after a Telnet

or SSH login. To do this, use the following command.

FastIron(config)#aaa authentication login privilege-mode

Syntax: aaa authentication login privilege-mode

The user privilege level is based on the privilege level granted during login.
