I have a MLX with 8,000 entries in the MAC table. Most of these are in a single vlan where my video STB boxes are. I would like to break this up into multiple vlans. In order to get this done I want to add option 82 and setup the DHCP server to hand out new addresses to certain interfaces. Then I will migrate these to a new vlan.
How much load on the CPU is option 82 with 8,000 Macs? Is there any way to turn DHCP snoop off of a interface but still have it running on the Vlan it is in? If so I could just run it on the interfaces that I am moving to a new vlan.
