MSTP between SX-800 and Dell 6248

We have multiple Dell 6248 switches which we are trying to set up with a couple of Brocade SX-800 switches being used as our core and have discovered we can not use rstp for them, due to Dell's short comings on the 6248's, to allow us to dual home each switch.

We are looking for information on configuring an MSTP throughout the network and the best way to go about it.  Any information on setting up an MSTP on both systems would be greatly appreciated.

Re: MSTP between SX-800 and Dell 6248

Hi halder.william,

Here is a sample for MSTP on the SX with some notes to help out a bit.  I do not know the DELL switch at all though.

!

vlan 20 by port <----- VLAN 20 configuration

tagged ethe 1 to 2

!

mstp scope all

mstp revision 3 <----- This must match on all switches in the same MSTP region

MSTP name MyMSTP <----- This must match on all switches in the same MSTP region

mstp instance 0 vlan 1 <----- This must match on all switches in the same MSTP region

mstp instance 1 vlan 20 <----- This must match on all switches in the same MSTP region
