GS-624P Switch - Unable to Use Serial Port to Configure

Hi All,

I've got a GS-624P POE switch and am trying to get into the CLI to configure it.

I connect the serial cable at 9600 N81, and get no activity at all.    I tested the 9 pin serial cable on an HP switch and it works just fine.

Alternatively, is there a way reset or telnet into the switch (it has an unknown IP address) so I can configure it?

Thanks much for the help!

Re: GS-624P Switch - Unable to Use Serial Port to Configure

Hi TerryGS,

     The serial cable you need is a straight-through EIA/TIA DB-9 serial cable.

The setting are;

• Baud: 9600 bps

• Data bits: 8

• Parity: None

• Stop bits: 1

• Flow control: None

I do not know if the HP cable is a cross over or staight-through.

You can reset the password but this required serial access to the switch. Suggest you try another cable.

Thanks

Michael.
