FastIron Edge X, unable to connect via serial port

I'm using a win7 machine with PuTTY.

I'm using the default connection options according to the FOS admin guide v710:

Serial Line: COM1

Speed: 9600

Data bits: 8

Stop bits: 1

Parity: none

Flow Control: none

and for some reason, I still get the PuTTY error message "Unable to open connection to COM1, Unable to open serial port"

I'm using a serial to RJ-45 cable to connect.

longas,

Attaching a doc that talks about some steps to troubleshoot serial port connections. This is straight from install guide. You may try these steps and see if it works.

Re: FastIron Edge X, unable to connect via serial port

Found out that I really needed to use a serial-to-serial cable connection.  I ended up splicing 2 cables into one because I needed a female end on both ends and I only had 2 male/female ends.

Thanks for the help all!
