FCX648 - hitless failover

Hello Guys,

I'm trying to setup a hitless failover stack running  the router image on some FCX ethernet switches, but the command (see guide To enable hitless failover, enter the following command at the Global CONFIG level of the CLI)

Brocade(config)#hitless-failover enable

is not available?

I have firmware 07.0.01b.

Can anyone point out why hitless failover doesn't work? Firmwareupgrade needed? Not possible with router code?

The stack works perfect but when 1 goes down the whole stack reboots and takes around a minute to come back, which would be better if it was hitless...

Thanks,

J

Re: FCX648 - hitless failover

Do you have a static mac set for the stack?

At the config prompt, type stack mac xxxx.xxxx.xxxx

Set it as the same mac as the Active Controller in your stack. If that doesn't let you enable hitless fail-over, I'd upgrade the switches. Version 07.4.00 was just released, so you are a bit behind.

Re: FCX648 - hitless failover

Hi janvd,

Hitless is not supported on FCX on that rev of code.  Minimum code rev 7.2.00 to enable hitless o the FCX.

Thanks

Michael.

Re: FCX648 - hitless failover

Hello,

thanks for the fast replies!

The static MAC was already set, and I will update the code.
