Configuring tagged 1GB SFP port ICX 6450

Hey guys,

This is my first time configuring an ICX 6450. I want it to act as a stand alone, non-stacked switch. I want to use port 1/2/1 as the tagged port communicating back to our core SX800 switch on vlan 34. I have set the speed on all 4 SFP ports to 1GB. I disabled STP on port 1/2/1, and it is not a stack member (as best I can tell). The vlan itself is properly configured because tagging port 1/1/1 (copper) gives me a working connection back to our SX800. However, I get no connection when I try with fiber on 1/2/1 (it is also tagged in vlan 34), and a sh int lists the port state as BLOCKING. What do I need to do to change the state to FORWARDING?

Here is the SH INT E 1/2/1

Re: Configuring tagged 1GB SFP port ICX 6450

Looks like the port is down:

10GigabitEthernet1/2/1 is down, line protocol is down

Can you verify you're getting light through your jumper, and that the other end isn't shutdown?

if your optic is supported you could do:

#config t

(config)# optical-monitor

(config)#exit

#show optic 1/3/1

and see if you're seeing light coming from the SX800.  Not sure what the commands to do that on the other side would be.

Re: Configuring tagged 1GB SFP port ICX 6450

I finally figured out the issue. STP was enabled on the copper port ( e 1/1/1) that I tagged. Apparently, STP is on by default in the ICX series. Definitely a "gotcha!" I wan't aware of with the ICX.
