Configuring 3 Subnets with common Layer 2 VLAN

Hi Everyone,

Newbie to the community here; been working with SuperX Layer 3 Switch for the past couple of months and so far it seems like a great product. l do have a couple of questions for which l have not been able to find the answer for in the Manual so maybe you guys can help.

l have a star topology setup, 1 Layer 3 Switch and 5 edge switches.  l need to setup the Layer 3 switch to route traffic for 3 separate Subnets, and pretty much be able to have traffic from any of the 3 Subnets flow to all ports, including ports on edge switches.  The only thing l want to restrict is broadcast domains so that l can specify which ports l want to have receive broadcasts from given subnets.

l tried to setup Subnet VLAN's with Virtual Interfaces in VLAN 1, but apparently l am not allowed to do that, so l created VLAN 10 and created it there.  l am not sure if this is the best setup for the type of topology l want to setup; l actually had to specify in the subnet VLAN what static ports to use in order for traffic to go through them.

Below is my config file, any input would be much appreciated

Re: Configuring 3 Subnets with common Layer 2 VLAN

My VLAN 1 has a similar configuration to what you're describing in order to support legacy segments of our network. Here are the relevant portions. Do note that this will eventually be on VLAN 200, which is why it's using ve 200. Still applicable to your situation though.

vlan 1 name DEFAULT-VLAN by port
 router-interface ve 200
 spanning-tree priority 0

interface ve 200
 ip address 10.100.0.2 255.255.248.0
 ip address 10.100.9.1 255.255.255.0
 ip address 10.100.200.1 255.255.255.0
 ip address 10.100.250.1 255.255.255.0
 ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.240.0
 ip helper-address 1 10.100.1.3
