BGP Routing Procotol in BigIron RX-16

Dear support,

My customer need to know how to upgrade BGP Routing Protocol in BigIron RX-16, from BGP AS 16 Bit to BGP AS 32 Bit.

The existing flash of BigIron RX-16 is 2.7.3.

Should we upgrade the existing flash to the latest flash?

And if we upgrade the flash, is the BGP AS 32 Bit exist in the latest flash?

Thank you,

Kristian SM.

Re: BGP Routing Procotol in BigIron RX-16

Hi Kristian,

Please note this is a community forum and not support (for support you should contact the Brocade  TAC).

The BigIron-RX does not support 32 bit AS numbers as that router is a hardware router using ASIC's (cannot be changed or reprogrammed). 32 bit AS are supported on the MLX range.

Setting the local AS number

The local AS number identifies the AS the Brocade BGP4 router is in. To set the local AS number, enter commands such as the following.

BigIron RX(config)# router bgp

BGP4: Please configure 'local-as' parameter in order to enable BGP4.

BigIron RX(config-bgp)# local-as 10

BigIron RX(config-bgp)# write memory

Syntax: local-as <num>

The <num> parameter specifies the local AS number 1 – 65535. There is no default. AS numbers

64512 – 65535 are the well-known private BGP4 AS numbers and are not advertised to the

Internet community.

Thanks

Michael.

Hi Kristian,

No inconvenience incurred - just wanted you to know that if you have a real support issue always go to the TAC if urgent, otherwise by all means use the forums.

If you are happy with the answer, please mark as answered.

Thanks

Michael.
