2x ICX 6550 40 GeB connect

HI

i tried to connect two ICX 6550 via the rear 40 GeB Ports

I have an avaiable and used POD- License on both ICX

PoD-ports    Lic-Available Lic-Used

1/2/1      Yes             Yes

1/2/2      Yes             Yes

interface ethernet 1/2/1

no cdp enable

no spanning-tree

(config-if-e40000-1/2/1)#show interfaces  ethernet 1/2/1

40GigabitEthernet1/2/1 is down, line protocol is down

Hardware is 40GigabitEthernet, address is 748e.f8e7.e736 (bia 748e.f8e7.e76f)

  Interface type is 40Gig Copper

Configured speed 40Gbit, actual unknown, configured duplex fdx, actual unknown

Configured mdi mode AUTO, actual unknown

Member of 1 L2 VLANs, port is tagged, port state is BLOCKING

BPDU guard is Disabled, ROOT protect is Disabled

  Link Error Dampening is Disabled

STP configured to OFF, priority is level0, mac-learning is enabled

  Flow Control is enabledd

  Mirror disabled, Monitor disabled

Not member of any active trunks

Not member of any configured trunks

  No port name

show interfaces ethernet 1/2/1

40GigabitEthernet1/2/1 is down, line protocol is down

Hardware is 40GigabitEthernet, address is 748e.f8e7.e692 (bia 748e.f8e7.e6cb)

  Interface type is 40Gig Copper

Configured speed 40Gbit, actual unknown, configured duplex fdx, actual unknown

Configured mdi mode AUTO, actual unknown

Member of 1 L2 VLANs, port is tagged, port state is BLOCKING

BPDU guard is Disabled, ROOT protect is Disabled

STP configured to OFF, priority is level0, mac-learning is enabled

  Flow Control is enabled

  Mirror disabled, Monitor disabled

Not member of any active trunks

Not member of any configured trunks

  No port name

The Port on is going down after a few seconds on the first ICX. On the second ICX the port never comes up. I tried some configuration with spanning tree, trunks, link-aggregation but without success. After these configurations i think it could be possible that there is a transceiver missmatch or something like that

Any Ideas?

Best regards

Re: 2x ICX 6550 40 GeB connect

Sacha,

You can check if you are using the right cable for 6650 40GbE ports, which is QSFP2QSFP by using 'show media' OR 'show optic' command.

thanks

Re: 2x ICX 6550 40 GeB connect

Sacha,

Just curious to know if you got a chance to check the cable connected between the 6650 switches. Would be great if you could share the solution in this thread if this issue has been resolved.

thanks again

Re: 2x ICX 6550 40 GeB connect

Hi Deppti

             Vendor: Amphenol           Version: D

             Part# : 599690002          Serial#: APF11500021L06

Re: 2x ICX 6550 40 GeB connect

Hi Sascha,

Thankyou for your prompt response. From the output it looks like the switches are connected via Passive Copper. It should be Active copper, not passive.

thanks\
