100Mbit on VDX6710???

Hi folks,

I'm struggling miserably in getting an old 100Mbit SBC connected to a VDX 6710 1Gb port.

Looks like VDX works nicely with my 1Gbit servers, and I'm also able to get my SBC working out-of-the-box on a Cisco 3750, so I know both ends are working. But there is no way to bring these two things together.

The status LED on the 100Mbit NIC wouldn't even come on when hooked up to the VDX and the switch does not show any LED activity either. Up to now I was convinced that 1Gb Ethernet would be compatible with 10/100...?

Scrolled through all the TechSpecs/Manuals of the VDX, can't find any hint if <1Gb is supported.

Help, anyone?

Thanks much!

Hi Brainslug,

The datasheet states the 6710 are 1G only and not tri-speed.  I think you may be out of luck here.

Thanks

Michael.

Hi Michael,

I couldn't find any clear statement in the data sheet, thanks for confirming.

Cheers!
