VDX6740 File System Monitoring

because we were hitting some BUG's in the past where the File System was running out of space, we would like to monitor the usage. Is there any chance to monitor this via SNMP or do we need a script or is there a script available?

# foscmd bash
bash-2.04# df -h
Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/root             1.8G  1.0G  682M  61% /
/dev/sda2             1.8G  652M  1.1G  37% /mnt

Thanks in advance!

Hello Florian,

There is no OID you can pull through snmp to get flash utilization.

You can use an "expect" script to pull the details of the flash from a linux server. I have put the simple script below to help you with this issue.

#!/usr/bin/expect -f

puts "\n##############\n# #\n##############\n"

spawn ssh -l root "df -h"

expect "'s password:"

send "PASSWORD\r"

expect "Use Control-C to exit or press 'Enter' key to proceed."

You will need to ssh manually to the switch once so the ssh key fingerprint gets added to the hosts file.

The output can be directed to a file, and a cron job can be added so the script runs automatically.

Hope this helps addressing your concern.
