How do I IP a 7450 switch

I have a 7450 switch that I need to use for testing.  I just need an open switch with an IP address.  I need a 192.168.x.x/24 address assigned to the switch and all devices attached be able to communicate through any ports.  It is running version 08.0.40T213.

I have done an "erase start" & "reload" so it is a blank switch.

The on-line information I have seen says to enter "conf t" then "ip address 192.168.x.x/24". It says "unknown command"

It also would not let me give vlan 1 an IP address like I do with Cisco.

The other thing I have seen was to give the management interface an IP address.  That appeared to take but nothing can ping it.

When I do a  "sh run" the only lines it has are:

interface management 1

ip address

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: How do I IP a 7450 switch

I'm not sure if it makes a difference but is the switch set up as a switch or a router?  What does Show Version say?

The other thing you might try is "ip address 192.168.x.x" instead of "ip address 192.168.x.x/24".

Good luck.
