I am in the process of replacing Cisco 6509 with Brocade VDX 8770.
I see the following configured in Cisco 6509:
IP Multicast Routing
On a interface:
IP PIM Sparse-dense-mode
How do I enabled the above ip multicasting in Brocade VDX 8770? I tried to lookup in Brocade VDX commmand reference manual but could not find it.

Please find below the steps to enable PIM on your 8770, as per the L3 Guide:
a) From the switch console, in privileged EXEC mode, enter global configuration mode.
b) Enter VLAN interface configuration mode for the first VLAN.
switch (config)# int vlan 10
c) Enable IGMP snooping.
switch(config-Vlan-10)# ip igmp snooping enable
d) Exit interface configuration mode.
e) Enter RBridge ID configuration mode for the RBridge associated with this switch (for this example,
it is assumed that an RBridge ID of 17 has already been configured for this switch).
switch (config)# rbridge-id 17
f) Issue the router pim command to enable PIM for this switch.
switch(config-rbridge-id-17)# router pim
g) To add a static rendezvous point (RP) configuration, add the RP address for the router PIM.
switch(config-rbridge-id-17)# rp-address x.x.x.x
h) Enter interface subconfiguration mode for the Ve interface associated with VLAN 10.
switch(config-rbridge-id-17)# int ve 10
i) Enter the no shut command to activate the Ve interface and bring the ports online.
switch (config-ve-10)# no shut
j) Assign a unique IP address for the interface:
switch (config-ve-10)# ip addr x.x.x.x/x
k) Enable PIM Sparse for this interface.
switch (config-ve-10)# ip pim-sparse
l) Exit Ve configuration mode.
switch (config-ve-10)# end
Hope this helps addressing your concerns

You suggestion looks odd to me. Why do I need to issue so many commands just to enable IP multicast routing and PIM on a interface.
In Cisco, you just have to issue two commands:
Enabling IP Multicast Routing
Global Configuration mode:
Router(config)# ip multicast-routing
Enabling PIM on an Interface
Router(config-if)# ip pim dense-mode
Just the two above commands in Cisco.

The number of commands is really irrelevant here. However, The Multicast related commands from the example if pasted earlier are only 3 and they are:
1) ip igmp snooping enable (under the vlan config)
2) router pim (to Enable multicast routing)
3) ip pim-sparse (under the interface participating in Multicast)
I do recommend going through the L3 Guide to have a better understanding of how PIM works on the VDX
