BCFP skill set to be split into two exams

With the increase in the complexity of the technology, we have decided to split the traditional BCFP certification into two exams, as they get revised in 2010. We will be introducing a new certification and exam called Brocade Certified Fabric Administrator. This will cover the traditional basic adminsistrator skills such as:

  • Fibre Channel theory
  • Hardware features
  • Switch setup
  • Zoning
  • Routing and ISLs
  • Management interfaces
  • Basic troubleshooting

The new BCFP exam will cover advanced skills such as:

  • Basic FCoE
  • Interop modes
  • Fabric security
  • Access Gateway
  • Virtual Fabrics
  • Data collection
  • Adaptive Networking
  • FC-FC routing
  • Extension and FCIP
  • Complex troubleshooting

The exams will be going to beta in mid-November. Details about the training courses, and a more detailed explanation may be found at this link: An email blast will be sent, the newsletter on the Certification page will be updated, and exam objectives pages and study resources will be appearing in the drop-down box on the Certification page very soon. Registration information for the beta exam will be found in the newsletter. Please direct any questions to
