Brocade Pushes Smaller Network Switches into On-Campus Data Closet

In most universities and in many corporate or division headquarter buildings, the data center used to be a broom closet. In some places, the brooms and buckets made way for the server rack. You might think it would be easier for software-defined networking to gain a toehold in places where the infrastructure is smaller and not so scaled up.


But here's the problem: Campus networks designed to be managed by single, physical server racks are often hard-wired to the few Ethernet ports they have available to them.
