Is it possible to use the same real server behind multiple virtual servers?

I would like to configure 3 different virtual servers. One of them offering HTTP, another one DNS and the third one FTP. I do have 2 real servers only. It is possible to use the same set/pool of real server behind three different virtual server or do I get any problems doing so?

Re: Is it possible to use the same real server behind multiple virtual servers?

This is possible. You can use a real server multiple times and the real server is able to offer various services for different virtual IPs. All in all you just have to bind the real server ports to the virtual server ports based on your need. You have been talking about HTTP, DNS and FTP. You need to configure all the ports below each of the two real servers:

server real rs1 a.b.c.1

  port ftp

  port dns

  port http

server real rs2 a.b.c.2

  port ftp

  port dns

  port http

The next step would be to bind the real server ports to the virtual servers based on your need. Virtual server A is FTP, virtual server B DNS and virtual server C HTTP:

server virtual A q.w.e.1

  port ftp

bind ftp rs1 ftp rs2 ftp

server virtual B q.w.e.2

  port dns

bind dns rs1 dns rs2 dns

server virtual C q.w.e.3

  port http

bind http rs1 http rs2 http

That is all.
