IP Routing Table

I have a customer that is asking this question and I can't seem to find them the answer anyway, so I'm hoping someone can help here.

If a router learns a route thought OSPF,iBGP,eBGP and RIP will the route installed on the IP routing table be OSPF??

if not what will be installed on the IP routing table?

Re: IP Routing Table

Hi tpritchett,

This is based on Administrative distance - see table below. lower the num the better.  These are DEFUALT values, so as long as nobody has meen playing around then it will follow the below.

ProtocolAdministrative distance
Directly connected route0
Static route out an interface1
Static route to next-hop address1
EIGRP summary route5
External BGP20
Internal EIGRP90
IGRP100
OSPF110
IS-IS115
RIP120
EGP140
ODR160
External EIGRP170
Internal BGP200
Unknown255

See this link for a short overview http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Administrative_distance

Thanks

Michael.

Re: IP Routing Table

So I guess in my case eBGP would be in the routing table then.  Thanks for the help=)
