How can I verify on SLB, if dynamic-weighted predictor is working?

Hi all,

I have activated "predictor dynamic-weighted reverse" on a vip as described in the manual.

We are requesting the "Load Average" of last 15 minutes.

All the real servers get the request, too.

But the output of "show server real" always shows me "Weight: 0".

This seems to be not correct.

Or is there another command to verify on SLB, if dynamic-weighted predictor is working?

Regards,

Dennis

Short addition:

The vip works with DSR!

Maybe I have to note something other on slb or server site?

What do you see talking about "show server real" - I do remember (I have not used it since quite a while) seeing something like:

ServerIronGT C-Series(config)#sh server real

Have you tried to get traces of the SNMP traffic in between the ServerIron and the real servers to see the SNMP queries and replies?

Do you see the weights in the output of "show server real"?

Hi Dennis,

do you have a solution for your problem already? Are you able to provide the configuration (maybe without IP addresses) - it might be something very simple. I have tried it in my lab with linux, windows and unix - it is working well and I do not see any problem. Do you have the following:

- trace of the snmp response

- a show run with or without IP addresses

Thanks.

Re: How can I verify on SLB, if dynamic-weighted predictor is working?

Hi,

the problem seems to be fixed in the meantime.

Our findings were the following:

First we have taken some traces of the SNMP request/response packets.

In there everything seems to work correct.

But additionally we have allowed SNMP from specific clients only using "snmp-client …" commands.

The related real servers have NOT been permitted there.

So the SNMP relies have been refused.

After permitting them using "snmp-client …" commands, everything was working fine.

Many thanks...
