Software networking – whether it be SDN or Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) – hits the priorities of these same executives who say that the major pain points they’re experiencing with their networks are complexity, cost, and performance. Software networking changes the conversation with a dramatically different approach to networking.
One of Brocade’s priorities is to equip our channel partners with software networking solutions that help their customers reduce the complexity, cost, and performance challenges. We do this through market-proven solutions, such as the Brocade Vyatta vRouter, which has more production customer deployments than any other software networking solution in the industry, with over 1.5 million downloads. But we also realize that technology alone isn’t enough. So we have invested in software-focused training and complemented that with lucrative deal registration and demo licenses to complete the offering.
Here’s just one recent example of how a Brocade partner helped a customer transition from a traditional network to a cloud-based solution based on the Brocade Vyatta 5400 vRouter. The result? A network infrastructure ready for tomorrow at a fraction of the cost the customer had been paying.
In this case, the traditional data center infrastructure of a large public sector agency was unable to keep up with the agency’s need to quickly and securely provide on-demand bandwidth and network services to its diverse, physically dispersed groups of stakeholders. In addition, the agency was being challenged to reduce its infrastructure CapEx and OpEx to meet new targets set by the government budget office.
Brocade partner Penta Systems architected a cloud-based solution using the Brocade Vyatta vRouter. This solution provided virtual routing and VPN services in a software form factor. Penta also provided testing, as well as complex technical and business support. This winning combination enabled the customer to meet an aggressive timeline for moving half of its IT workload to the cloud while continuing to meet strict regulatory and compliance requirements.
Because the Brocade Vyatta vRouter enables hybrid VPN topologies that work across data center locations as well as private or public clouds, the customer now has the flexibility to virtually add, configure, and move network services on demand.
The benefits for the customer:
Applications deployed more than three times faster, resulting in greater business agility and staff productivity
An optimized network configuration that cuts the number of required hops by 50 percent
Reduced total cost of ownership, simplified management and improved uptime
. . . all because of moving to an architecture with software networking at its heart.
