E-mail Notification BNA 12.0

Hi all,

I am using BNA 12 and I have one question. I have running the E-mail Notification and get a sample notice.

IP Address: 10.x.x.x

Source: XXXXX

Network Advisor  E-mail Report - Product Status Event

Network Advisor Version: 12.0.0

Network Advisor Build: 241

Network Advisor Server Address: 10.x.x.x

Date: Tue Mar 19 07:25:27 CET 2013

Event: Port 89 (8/9) changed its operational state to online

Severity: Warning

Is it possible to get in e-mail body addition or instead of the port number his name.

All ports are described in the BNA

Re: E-mail Notification BNA 12.0

So you would like to see the port name instead of the port number in the warning message in BNA ?

Re: E-mail Notification BNA 12.0

In BNA i have described this information in Master Log  for example "Port Name" field  "ARRAY_XXX_IO0001"  but in notification email i got only information about port nr from Description field In BNA "Port 175 (7/47) changed its operational state to offline". I would have wished to get all this information in e-mail together for example:

IP Address: 10.x.x.x

Source: XXXXX

Network Advisor  E-mail Report - Product Status Event

Network Advisor Version: 12.0.0

Network Advisor Build: 241

Network Advisor Server Address: 10.x.x.x

Date: Tue Mar 19 07:25:27 CET 2013

Event: ARRAY_XXX_IO0001 Port 89 (8/9) changed its operational state to online

Severity: Warning

It's possible to do ?

Best if we could define the information you want to receive the notification by e-mail

Re: E-mail Notification BNA 12.0

Any update on this?  We would also like to receive more detail messages about ports being offline.

Thanks

Re: E-mail Notification BNA 12.0

Hi All

You can Do it

1. Right Click on any Switch in BNA

2. Click on Element Mnager --> Ports

BNA.bmp

You can see the Ports screen here now

Do as high- lighted in the image above:

Select any Port

Click Rename

Give a "MeaningFul name"

Click Rename

The new name appears under column "Port Name"

Try offlining and check that you get a mail.

Disadvantage:

If you change the device connected to this por to another, the portname should be changed manually.

Let me know for any clarifications; Correct me if i am wrong

Re: E-mail Notification BNA 12.0

Hi

I defined this information early.

BCFA1.png

I did it in the BNA but the effect is the same :-)BCFA2.png

But still information in e-mail does not contain the name of the port for example:

Master log information:

Warning DRIVE_POZ_LTO3_13_213_FB false CORE_XXX SNMP Trap 10.161.32.150 Product Event Port 171 (7/43) changed its operational state to offline Wt kwi 02 2013 08:08:39 CEST 1 Product Event  10.161.32.150 None 10:00:00:05:33:0E:33:00 CORE_XXX (...)

E-mail information:

IP Address: 10.161.32.150

Source: CORE_XXX

Network Advisor
E-mail Report - Product Event

Network Advisor Version: 12.0.0

Network Advisor Build: 241

Network Advisor Server Address: 10.X

Date: Tue Apr 02 08:08:39 CEST 2013

Event: Port 171 (7/43) changed its operational state to offline

Severity: Warning

It would be great if in the new version of BNA could define the information that you want  to get in e-mail.

I have more comments to new BNA but it can be new topic ;-)

Re: E-mail Notification BNA 12.0

I would like to have in SAN Event Alert e-mail a description of the port and not just the number:

last example :-)

Port 171 (7/43) and/or  DRIVE_POZ_LTO3_13_213

Re: E-mail Notification BNA 12.0

BNA can only show the switch name as source for all product events and provide the description as it is shown in the master log . Only the master log has an additional column for port name and we can show the port name whenever it is available . But this hasn't been added to the email notifications . Currently this is not supported in BNA .

Re: E-mail Notification BNA 12.0

Hi,

Just checking if this is still the case Annie?

Would be ideal to have this information in the email.

Thanks
