I am moving our DS8700 configuration from a darkfiber metromirror configuration to a Global mirror configuration

I am using 2 Brocade 7800 that are about 200 miles apart.  Does anyone have a cookbook on how to configure these 7800 for DS8xxx Global Mirror connections?  The 7800s see my 8700, but the 8700s can't communicate between the 2 locations.  Nothing on the 7800s other than 1 LW fiber in fiber port 0 and 1 Cat 6 in ge0.  The boxes can ping eachothers ge0 ports so the WAN is ok.  I just can't seem to get thru the 7800s.

It's probably something simple, but I've about pulled what little hair left out.  Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Archie

Hello,

Have you run the command nsallshow for check if all devices are corectly connected and registered into the name servers on both switches?

Can you share this output plus the result of switchshow command?

Have you define FCIP tunnel on 7800?

Re: I am moving our DS8700 configuration from a darkfiber metromirror configuration to a Global mirror configuration

The 2 switches haven't merge.

From the logs:

16  16   011000   --    --   Online      VE  VE-Port  segmented,(domain overlap)

This indicates a Domain ID issue. DID need to be different.

Can you check both DID of the 7800s?

Re: I am moving our DS8700 configuration from a darkfiber metromirror configuration to a Global mirror configuration

Both DIDs are 1.

Also, I did a configdefault and set both back to factory to rework from base.  I set the chassis names, switch names, passwords, clocks, timezones, tsclockserver (on 1 only), and that's where I'm at right now.

Thank you for the help.

Ok, so change DID of the other one and you will be good for that part.

Super. I can see all of the ports now so hopefully we are good.

Re: I am moving our DS8700 configuration from a darkfiber metromirror configuration to a Global mirror configuration

For a little while all looked good, but my connectivity is flakey at best.  Occassionally I can see the DS8700"s IO ports but much of the time I can't.  The switches are setting 2 feet from each other with an ehternet cable between the ge0 ports so bad comm isn't the problem, and when I cable around the switches everything work properly.

The domain IDs are 1 & 2, and have mergerd properly it appears after the "fabricprincipal 1 -f" command, and I can FCPING thru the up or downstream switch to the remote DS8700 fine.  One thing I did notice is that FCPING to the local DS8700 is irratic on all switches (I have 4 7800s and they all do the same thing).  I have replaced the GBICS, cables and 7800s.  Again, it's probably something simple that I'm overlooking.

All help is appreciated
