DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Utility to clone an AIX volume group completely, including JFSLOG etc. The cloned volumegroup will be renamed, all logical volumes will have a prefix, and a unique JFSLOG volume will be created.

This allows you to assign storage to a machine, clone an existing volume group easily, and re-assign the volume groups disks to a new machine.

REQUIREMENTS

Operating System IBM AIX

Interface Command line with Arguments

Fabric Operating System Any SAN attached storage

Other None

NOTES (INCLUDING LIMITATIONS)

This script assumes that databases on the volume group use a naming convention of <SID>_tablespace_index. While cloning, it will replace SID with a new SID name specified on the command line. It will also replace an instance of 'SID' in the file system paths with the new SID specified on the command line. This is excellent for renaming a database while cloning it.
