fiber channel wwn zoning and HBAs

We have a small fabric of 4 switches that I am presently using only LUN masking at the array for security. This is working fine but have been told I should also institute WWN zoning on the switch as this protects HBA's from communicating with other HBA's and other storage ports. Basically a bad HBA could affect a good HBA because there is no protection from seeing the bad HBAs fabric events. I've heard security reasons but not this reason. Is this valid?

It is valid. WWN zoning is a best practice that provides an extra level of security, and will keep you out of trouble if you make any accidents while configuring.

erm no, port zoning is more secure than wwn zoning, i.e an intruder cannot spoof port zoning via FC frame manipulation. -aW
