fcip configuration for 7800

Hi everyone,

Currently we have two Brocade AP7420 that talk to each other through FCIP fiber cable.
This is the output:

" onmouseout="this.style.backgroundColor='#fff'">ASSSANRO01: admin>
switchshow" onmouseout="this.style.backgroundColor='#fff'">ASSSANRO01: admin> switchshow
Switch Name: ASSSANRO01

FC router BB Fabric ID: 1

Port Media Speed State Info

1 id 1G Online VE_PORT 10:00:00:05:1 e: 16:25:27 "INVSANRO01"
2 id AN No_Sync stopped
3 id AN No_Sync stopped
4 id N2 Online EX_PORT xxxxx "xxxx" (fabric id = 104)

15 id AN No_Light stopped

We recently bought 7800 to replace the 7420. Can I continue to use the FC ports for FCIP or I'm forced to use geport?

Re: fcip configuration for 7800

You cannot use FC ports for Ethernet.

That said I believe your question is whether you can use optical ports for FCIP communication. In this case the answer is yes, because the first two GE ports on 7800 can be configured for either Copper of Optical with the following command:

portCfgGeMediaType ge0|ge1 copper|optical

Hope this helps,
