er_bad_os and Proc_rqrd problem

HI:team
  i have a BR5300,when i use  portstatsshow command,i find that the value of er_bados_os and Proc_rqrd are increased fast.so anyone know what the problem?

Re: er_bad_os and Proc_rqrd problem

The high er_bad_os counter and the port being in N8, might point to a wrong fillword setting.

Run portcfgshow to see what mode the fillword is in.

Use portcfgfillword to change the mode, this is disruptive to traffic.

Most suppliers recommend mode 3, but please consult your products vendor documentation on how the setting should be set.

Re: er_bad_os and Proc_rqrd problem

The Proc_Rqd is a counter which means that the ASIC had to forward a frame to the CPU because it did not know what to do with it. It can be any frame that is not a data-frame. If it was a data frame and subject to zoning regulations it would have been dropped. That being said though there have been FOS defects which caused incorrectly sent dataframes to the CPU. Most of the time upgrading FOS code and bouncing the port resolves the problem.
