effects of err_enc_out

hi I have 2 brocade 3900 switches and I have over 1 billion err_enc_out on two ports.

I am no expert as this is an area I want to know more about. My understanding is the enc_out figure is historical showing the number of errors since the port has been used or the stats were last cleared. To confirm whether the problem is current, clear the stats for the port with the portstatsclear command and then check again after a couple of days. I believe high enc errors can be a sign of problems with either sfp, cable , hba or driver etc. If you are getting lots of errors first thing to try would be to move the cable into another port in the switch to see if the problem moves with the cable or not.
