Re: What's the meaning of "SCN LR_PORT" message?

Hi Daniel,

it is a State Change Notification: Link Reset on Port 122.

If this happens more often than I assume that this link or server had a problem.

I have seen this if an HBA is powered on and the OS had no driver was loaded (Windows).

Check the port error counters if you have a duff cable.

I hope this helps.

Re: What's the meaning of "SCN LR_PORT" message?

This means , a State Change Notification has happened but Port is active , Link reset is donoe for non-E_port .

Keep an eye on the port through portstatsshow, portshow, porterrshow. Also check in errdump. You may have to replace cables, SFPs, HBAs if the driver or Firmware needs to be upgarded.

Pls find attached the pdf for your reference.

If you find this correct pls correct the thread

Re: What's the meaning of "SCN LR_PORT" message?

Can somebody please tell me if the (0);g=0x0 part has any significance? In my case in the fabriclog it is (0);g=0x114

Many thanks!

Re: What's the meaning of "SCN LR_PORT" message?

If you have these streaming, disable the port and fix the problem. (hba, cable, sfp.) it will create havoc in your fabric. and can cause severe performance problems.

The SCN_LR is the key, forget about the rest behind it.

Just monitor the log if you have a hba reset or a link reset then you see how many messages are posted for one reboot.

Ed
