What is a cost metric: 10500

I am trying to determine what the fspf cost metric of 10500 equates to. I know that the 500 is the base cost of an ISL but I have no definative answer reagrding the additional 10000 cost. I am asuming it is some kind addition cost to identify a router link

Did you have checked if this costs was set manually with the command linkcost?

If you find a STATIC in the affected line then it was set manually in the past.

With interfaceshow you should be able to see the default and the current value.

I hope this helps.

Hi -

additionnal 10000 cost is introduced by EX-ports :

router:admin> linkcost

Port            Cost
-------------------------
0               10000 (STATIC)
1               10000 (STATIC)
2               10000 (STATIC)
3               10000 (STATIC)
4                 500
5                 500
6                 500
7                 500
8               10000 (STATIC)
9               10000 (STATIC)
10              10000 (STATIC)
11              10000 (STATIC)

...

router:admin> switchshow |grep EX
  0   0   2b0000   id    N2   Online      FC  EX-Port  10:00:00:60:69:90:53:a2 "switch1" (fabric id = 7 )
  1   1   2b0100   id    N2   Online      FC  EX-Port  10:00:00:60:69:90:53:a2 "switch1" (fabric id = 7 )
  2   2   2b0200   id    N2   Online      FC  EX-Port  10:00:00:60:69:90:53:10 "switch2" (fabric id = 5 )
  8   8   2b0800   id    N2   Online      FC  EX-Port  10:00:00:60:69:90:56:1e "switch3" (fabric id = 8 )
  9   9   2b0900   id    N2   Online      FC  EX-Port  10:00:00:60:69:90:56:1e "switch3" (fabric id = 8 )
10  10   2b0a00   id    N2   Online      FC  EX-Port  10:00:00:60:69:90:06:66 "switch4" (fabric id = 6 )

btw Andreas I've never set it manually, I think it's automatically done during Ex-port setup

Kind regards,
