What does this error mean (N8 No_Sync FC Disabled (Port Throttled))

Hello,

I have brocade DS6510B and from switchshow, I can see an error in one of the ports.

xx xx 012400 id N8 No_Sync FC Disabled (Port Throttled)

This started to fail when we replaced the fiber cable with a new one. Disabling/enabling the port did not help. What's weird is even if we re-use the original fiber cable that was working, the port is still down.

By the way, the negotiated speed when it was working was N4.

Thanks/kaikai

Re: What does this error mean (N8 No_Sync FC Disabled (Port Throttled))

Most likely disabled due to a fillword issue.

Check if the port fillword is set to either 1, 2 or 3 if it connects on 8G.

portcfgfillword <port #> 2

The problem is this:

Timed_out: 0 Invalid_word: 1964204

If you want to know more about fillwords look here:

Good luck.
