Trying to ISL BLADEC 8Gb Switch with DS5100

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to ISL a BLADEC 8Gb switch to a DS5100.  On the blade switch GUI, I see the FC ports but the SPF's are grayed.  When I go into port admin, I see that  Health: offline.  I am not getting a connection green light when I plug the fibre in.

On my other switch, the ports that are licensed are lite, even when they are not being used.

I also see a "Release License" button at the top. What does the "Release License" button do?

I am not sure if I do not have the switch ports configured correctly, or do I have a fibre cabling issue.

Re: Trying to ISL BLADEC 8Gb Switch with DS5100

Sorry I do not work with webtools.

Can you please provide the cli output of portcfgshow and portshow of the affected ports?

It can also be helpful if you provide a switchshow of both switches.

Re: Trying to ISL BLADEC 8Gb Switch with DS5100

Hi,

I think that you have to cross your FC cable. Port phys state is No_Light which means that the RX side does not "see" any light from the oposite TX side.

Check your cable. Please check also if you have Shgortwave SFPs with OM3 cables 50um/125um.

I hope this helps, if not let me know. If so please add from both switches the most recent errdump lines.

Re: Trying to ISL BLADEC 8Gb Switch with DS5100

I think you're on to something.  After some cable end combinations, I have one good (green) connection, and 1 solid amber connection.  The cables are identical.  The ports are all enabled.

What does the amber light indicate?

Re: Trying to ISL BLADEC 8Gb Switch with DS5100

steady amber                                    --> Port is receiving light or signal at 4Gbit speed

fast flashing amber (.5 sec interval)      --> port is faulty

slow flashing amber(2 sec interval)     --> Port is disabled

I hope this helps, please mark the thread if I have answered your questions. If you need further assits please let me know.
