Re: Silkworm 200e Firmware Zip File

Hello Khurram,

I am not sure what your question is. You have to extract the zip file into an FTP share which is accessible from the SAN switch.

After that you have to run the firmwaredownload command.

the path will be something like this

./v5.2.3/release.plist

Don't worry that you can not see the release.plist file in the base folder. The switch will find the correct file for you.

I hope this helps,

Re: Silkworm 200e Firmware Zip File

Hi Thanks for your reply.

I have created an FTP share which is accessible when i put  the ip address of that ftp share in web browser. But while upgrade the firmware when i try giving that ftp address it gives me an error message . Please find the attached image for details.

Further when i look at the FTP server connection logs it says:

(000008)7/13/2011 18:01:44 PM - itsexe (10.77.77.79)> 150 Connection accepted

(000008)7/13/2011 18:01:44 PM - itsexe (10.77.77.79)> 226 Transfer OK

(000008)7/13/2011 18:01:47 PM - itsexe (10.77.77.79)> disconnected.

(000007)7/13/2011 18:03:44 PM - itsexe (10.77.77.79)> 421 Connection timed out.

(000007)7/13/2011 18:03:44 PM - itsexe (10.77.77.79)> disconnected.

Please help me to resolve the issue.( I am using FileZilla FTP Server)

Re: Silkworm 200e Firmware Zip File

It looks that you have a different folder structure in your FTProot folder. In general if you extract the FOS code files you get as a base folder v5.2.0b. It looks that this is not present.

try foloowing path ./release.plist

Then it should work.

Re: Silkworm 200e Firmware Zip File

I am also receiving the same error. I am trying to go from 5.1.0 to 5.3.2c. I've also gotten the same error when I try to go to 5.2.0. What am I doing wrong? There is no "release.plist" in the root of the zip file.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Checking system settings for firmwaredownload...
Cannot download ftp://admin:<password>@10.1.70.10//fw/SWBD44/v5.3.2c.
Firmware download failed - Unable to access the package list file. Check whether the switch is supported by the requested firmware. Also check firmwaredownload help page for other possible failure reasons. (0x12)

Re: Silkworm 200e Firmware Zip File

If a zip file has been unpacked properly, there will be a folder called v5.2.0b in your FTP root folder.

The way file name should be specified in this case is: v5.2.0b/release.plist

Even though there is no release.plist in that folder, a switch will pick the right file depending on platform ID, as seen in FTP log (34=Silkworm 200E).

I would say leading dot-slash is what confuses upgrade procedure in your case.

Hope this helps,

Re: Silkworm 200e Firmware Zip File

@jim.morrell,

SWBD44 contains files for Silkworm 4900. You do not have to specify this part of the path manually.

If I read your message properly, there is a folder called fw where you unpacked the v5.3.2c zip into.

If that is the case, then your file specification for the upgrade should read: fw/v5.3.2c/release.plist

Once again, the switch will pick up the actual plist file depending on switch model, thus the file for a given switch would reside under fw/v5.3.2c/SWBD*/release.plist for every platform supported with this Fabric OS release -- but you should omit the SWBDxx part in your input.

Hope this helps a bit,

Re: Silkworm 200e Firmware Zip File

@khurram,

FTP timeout could also indicate a firewall issue. Would make sense to connect to the FTP manually and download some files, to be sure it works.

Re: Silkworm 200e Firmware Zip File

Hi All,

Thanks for your help the issue has been solved. Following were the findings:

  • I tried lot of file servers but in the "Cerberus FTP Server" solved the problem.
  • You dont have to specify any specific folder just give ./release.plist it would find the required plist by itself.
