Should I downgrade firmware on a new 5100 switch to create ISL with existin fabric

Hi all,

I have a 48000 director as a core with FOS 5.3.0c and I want to create an ISL to a new 5100 switch with FOS 6.1.1.

Should I downgrade the firmware on the new switch to create the ISL?

Thanks in advance for your help.

300, 5100, and 5300 Initial FOS rel. is 6.1.0 and cannot be downgrade to a lower Release.

Thanks TechHelp24,

I see I cannot downgrade my 5100, but, my question remains.

Will the ISL work this way? I mean, having 5.3.0c on core and 6.1.1 on edge or should I consider upgrade the 48k director to 6.1.1?

Re: Should I downgrade firmware on a new 5100 switch to create ISL with existin fabric

6.1.1 is full Tested and Compatible with FOS 5.1 and higher for the 48000.

Whit other word, ISL will work fine without any restriction.

Personally, i prefered to steady up-to-date.

6.1.1 is around 2 Years Old.

BTW. current FOS is 6.3.0c.
